The Species list stands at 161 so far for 2016

It would appear that the KOS have lost all sightings post from February up to present day and, they are nowhere to be found within the KOS website. Also gone is the species list for the year but, I do have a record of that of which I will post a link.
Sightings will now be posted here and will be up and running properly from January 1st.
If you would like to send any sightings to me for posting, you can at martynwilson@talktalk.net

Sunday 27th

First of the winter Harrier counts at Stodmarsh today and it was very rewarding. A very vocal Tawny Owl was calling close by in the car park on arrival at 06.00, there were a number of Greylag Geese on the lake but left in the dark although there were 10 flying around in the semi-darkness, Snipe, Water Rail, Fieldfare were among the other birds heard while still dark. The first Harrier left roost around 07.10 with others following and totaling 19 Marsh Harriers. Also 4 Hen Harriers came out of roost including 2 males, one a fine adult and the other a second winter bird. The Cormorants were leaving at the same time but were not counted although at least a 1000, probably similar to yesterdays count. There were 2 Kestrels, 9 Great-crested Grebes, 82 Shoveler, 95 Mallards, 28 Great Black-backed Gulls, 36 Mute Swans (one flock of 20 overhead), 1 Little Grebe, 15 Lapwings and 12 Gadwall. Teal numbers are well down with just 530 noted, a pair of Wigeon were present as were 7 Tufted Ducks, a pair of Pintail, 1 Grey Heron while a Bullfinch and a Redpoll spp (probably Lesser) were heard but not seen. A look at Collard's and there were 213 Coot, 33 Tufted Duck, 58 Pochards, 42 Gadwall, 34 Shoveler, 76 Wigeon and 27 Great-crested Grebes. On the adjoining fields there were 298 Greylag Geese and the 17 Tundra Bean Geese.
