May 3rd

Cloudy and damp at Stodmarsh this morning with no wind yet not much activity, it's strange you can be here one day and it's a bustling with life and the next day everything is half asleep. Just 1 Hobby today, 3 Sand martin and 1 Canada goose leaving marsh hide and landing at the ramp. There was a Fox on the river bank opposite Paddy's bench. No Nightingale's calling today but have heard and seen Cuckoo's every day.. May 1st there were 4 Greenshank , 2 Shelduck and 5 Lapwing at marsh hide also seen were 7 Swift and 6 Hobby. May 2nd was warm with 2 Speckled wood and a few Peacock and Small white's about. Lot's of calling Cetti's and Sedge warbler's, Chiffchaff's and Marsh frog's. Near marsh hide i had 1 Turtle dove, 2 common Buzzard, 1 Linnet and a few Swallow's and House martin's. There were 8 Mute swan cygnet's at David Feast hide. There is a dead Mute swan in the ditch opposite the fishing lake, look's like a female with no visible sign's of being attacked.
