The Stour Valley list for 2019 stands at 105 species so far.
February 19th
With some nice mild sunny weather forecast, I spent a few hours in Trenleypark Woods with Chiddy this morning where we saw and heard an excellent variety of birds. The undoubted highlight was seeing 1, probably 2 Nuthatch which were very vocal in the woods and after a bit of patience, finally rewarded us with a few brief photo opportunities. This is only the 2nd Nuthatch I have encountered in the Stour Valley, one being heard only in the paddock at Grove Ferry on the 3rd August 2007, so to actually see one was a real bonus. Other birds noted were 2 Lesser spotted Woodpecker, 1 female seen and a male calling, 2 Marsh Tit, 2 Coal Tit, a few Great spotted and Green Woodpeckers, 3 Common Buzzard and plenty of the commoner woodland species noted.
