Still very little to report from the Stour Valley except the usual resident birds that, if written about two or there times a week would put any insomniac to sleep. The highlight at Grove Ferry at the moment is the 32,000.00 plus Starlings roosting in the reeds behind the Ramp pool. Duck numbers are still fairly low with 6-700 Teal present, an ever present drake Pintail and a few Mallards, with the occasional Gadwall or Shoveler to be seen. There are a dozen Water Pipits in the area but, unlike most years, are not easy to connect with. Seen from Marsh hide or around the Ramp pool. There is, of course,  Great-white Egret spending time in the Valley at present but, like the Little Egret it is a bird now considered to be one not to cross the road to look at as they are fairly Common. Probably as many as 30 individuals in the county. Hen Harriers are back with two birds roosting at Stodmarsh, a male and a ringtail plus at least 15 Marsh Harriers. There at least 3 Stonechats on site but not big numbers of Fieldfare like we used to get and the Bearded Tits are less numerous than previous years.
