Dropped into the Grove Ferry end of the reserve this morning and from the gate to the ramp saw approx 30 Gatekeepers, 1 Turtle Dove, a pair of Bullfinch, a pair of Linnet, 1 Greenfinch ,5 Goldfinch, 7 Whitethroat, 2 with beaks full of insects, 3 Reed Bunting and 2 Dunnock. Not much at the ramp and not much at Feast hide. More luck at Marsh hide with 1 Green Sandpiper and 3 Kestrel and while chatting to John who had been there since 6.45 am a Water Rail ran across the edge of the pool, 3 Turtle Dove flew in to land and a Bittern flew from the left side of the hide to the reeds next to the cattle crush.I could only see 1 Lapwing chick but John saw 2 earlier on and a Bittern. Fairly quiet at the reserve during the week but i did see a Great crested Grebe with 2 chicks on the Stodmarsh lake mid week. As i left today 15 Grey lags flew in to the ramp and 1 Snipe
