November 16th
The morning started with 3 very vocal Tawny Owls, 2 at the car park and one on the reserve. Harrier watch from the Tower hide produced 16 Marsh Harriers out but, unlike other years when they have arrived by mid October, there were no sign of any Hen Harriers. The 2 Tundra Bean Geese flew out with Greylags at 7.00am and were later seen by Collard's lake with 316 Greylag Geese. A Woodcock flew past the hide and a Great-white Egret flew down to the Grove end where it was later seen on the Ramp pool. Among the several hundred Shoveler on the lake the Gadwall numbers have increased to 38 birds and 12 Great-crested Grebes present plus 1 Little Grebe and a flyby Sparrowhawk. Three Bullfinches were at Undertrees farm but no Little Owl, a Cattle Egret was with the cattle on the marshes by Newbons farm and at Marsh hide there were 19 Water Pipits, 14 Pied Wagtails, 1 Grey Wagtail, 1 Green Sandpiper and 18 Golden Plover flew over south west.
