April 14th

This morning Neil Frampton discovered a Red-rumped Swallow over the lake at Stodmarsh with 100+ Sand Martins. One Barn Swallow and one House Martin were also seen. Other highlights today included at least 5 Drake Garganey with 2 at the Ramp at Grove, 1 at Marsh hide briefly and 3 together on the cut area at the back of Stodmarsh lake between Lake Tower hide and the river. There were 2 3 calendar year Yellow-legged Gulls, 1 first summer male Hen Harrier, 3 Water Pipits, 1 Willow Warbler, 7 Green Sandpipers and 3 Ruff. Yesterday (13th) the/a Great-white Egret flew in then out late morning and a Common Buzzard that at times could be mistaken for either a Rough-legged Buzzard or an Osprey depending on distance and angle of view, first seen with what an identical bird (presumably a sibling) from Collard's initially found y Barry Wright.
