January 6th
Birding at Grove Ferry 15.20-16.50 with Richard Collins and Chiddy produced 7 Marsh harrier, c500 Fieldfare, 120 Lapwing, 256 Cormorant, 2 Water Rail, 86 Mute Swan, 2 Water Pipit, 1 Kingfisher, 8 Greylag Geese, 1 Meadow Pipit, 1 Green Woodpecker, 1 Great-white Egret, 1 Grey Heron, 1 Corn Bunting, 1 Sparrowhawk, 8 Woodcock out of roost, and 12 White-fronted Geese flew towards Stodmarsh calling at dusk. No sign of the Bewick's Swans flying in before dark.
