The Stour Valley list for 2018 stands at 156(+1) species so far.



June  26th



Hot and sunny at the reserve this morning as i did the circuit and the Great white egret was at the ramp also a female Mallard with 11 duckling's.A Green sandpiper was at Feast hide but the Common tern's are gone, a Grey heron was standing near the nest so i expect the inevitable has happened. A juvenile Lapwing and a Green sandpiper were at Harrisons. At marsh hide was another Green sandpiper and 1 Water rail. On my walk i saw 1 Turtle dove, 1 cuckoo, 3 Swallow, 1 Green woodpecker, 2 Collared dove, 1 Cetti's warbler, 8 Sedge warbler, 9 Reed bunting, 4 Goldfinch, 3 Linnet, 3 Lapwing, 4 Marsh harrier, 1 Common tern, 1 Whitethroat, 1 Chiffchaff, 2 Stock dove, 1 Jay .There were 7 Great crested grebe and around 20 Grey lag on the lake. There were 11 young Marsh frog's in a pool, mostly males identified by the air sac near their mouth .I also saw 1 Common lizard, 1 Grass snake. 1 Red admiral, 2 Speckled wood, 1 Small tortoiseshell, 5 Large white, 2 Cinnabar moth's, 1 male Large skipper. On Sunday the 24th there were 7 Black tailed godwit and 1 Little egret at the ramp.
