Stodmarsh this morning produced the usual Tawny Owl calling from the Alder Wood upon arrival, a Snipe calling overhead in the darkness on the Lampen Wall, 2 Water Rails calling and several Fieldfare chattering. Just 1 Cetti's Warbler made its presence heard and a Sparrowhawk flew through the trees behind Tower hide out across the reed bed. The first Harrier out of roost was at 0732 a Marsh Harrier and only 12 in total were seen (22on Saturday last) and the first Hen Harrier out at 0744. Just two ringtails out toady although the/a male came in to the reserve from the north at 0806. At least 500 Fieldfares passed over the reeds towards the orchards and feeding by the hide were 3 Dunnocks, 2 Robins and 10 Chaffinches. On the lake were 242 Mallards, 7 Gadwall, 1 Little Grebe, 3 Great-crested Grebes, 1 Tufted Duck, 6 Pochards, 34 Shoveler and 700 Teal.
