The first weekend of a new month and it was
all extremely quiet in the Valley. Without adding a single new species
throughout August, September started with less to report, no sign of the Purple
Heron, no sign of the Great-white Egret, Garganey down to one on Saturday and
none today and just a few Whinchats of note. There was an eclipse drake
Mandarin on the lake at Stodmarsh on Saturday that after 10mins flew towards
Collard’s/Westbere. There was a new Ruff on Saturday with a juvenile joining
the resident adult, Black-tailed Godwits are up to six, 2 Greenshank present
with another 4 flyover and Whinchat numbers fluctuate between two and five.
Restharrow Scrape at Sandwich has produced very little with just 2 Garganey
until today and the odd Green Sandpiper. Best part of the weekend was watching a
Harbour Porpoise swimming north past Deal as I went home Saturday lunch time. So
instead of a big report here are just a few photos from the weekend.
