February 25th

A much quieter morning this morning with less about under the dull grey skies and strong cold south westerly wind. One of the Black-tailed Godwits was still from the Ramp with 200 Lapwings and the Shelducks were down to two. The scattering of Teal probably only topped 400 and there was a drake Pintail present. A ringtail Hen Harrier passed by the Ramp and 2 male Hen Harriers flew out towards Wickembreaux. A Kestrel seen hunting a Green Woodpecker Calling and the first of just 4 Cetti's Warblers singing (2 seen). Feast hide was the quietest its been since the work carried out with just 16 Gadwall and 6 Tufted Ducks of note, 3 more Tufties at Stodmarsh and 2 more Gadwall on the right hand pool from the Ramp. A Little Egret dropped in to Ramp pool and a Water Pipit was at Harrison's. Added at the Stodmarsh end were 7 Great-crested Grebes, a pair of Bullfinch, 20 Goldfinch, 2 Siskins and a Lesser Redpoll. A Bittern flew over the reed bed landing near the tip while 8 Yellowhammers were in the village, a Common Buzzard flew past Collard's, 8 Corn Buntings were in the field and on wires just outside the village and a Grey Wagtail flew over back at Grove car park.
